Random Germany Trip photos

Michelle and Melissa ready to fire some finger rockets...
A little lookout that still has little holders for rifles in the windows..
Amazing ice cream...
I love michelle expression in the back of this photo. These chocolate eggs have toys inside them...

Bastogne Memorial

Looking from the top of the memorial towards the town of Foy.
The story...
This is the family photo I should have put up on the first post- it was cold.

Another Surprise

On our way from Paris to Baumholder, germany... Rich took us through Bastogne, Belgium. The city where the Battle of the bulge happened during WW II. What an unexpected surprise. We are going to Normandy next week and this was not on our radar. You can't help but get emotional as you see the memorial and read the description of what took place here engraved on the tall walls. Then we went to the forest where the battle took place, it was a little dark for us to find the foxholes. The local boy scouts keep the foxholes kept up. WOW. What a sacrifice that was made by my grampa and the thousands of other men and women we all know to give us the freedom we now live in!!!

Our full french meal- starter, Raclette, cheese and dessert

This is what's called Raclette- you put this cheese under the top and there is a warmer that melts the cheese which you then pour over all kinds of things- meat, potatoes, salad, bread...
On the top you can warm meat or bread.

Pickles- mostly Benjamin posing for Quinn, the pickle lover.
Nora did not enjoy the Roquefort, her face tells the true story- DID NOT enjoy the cheese.

More from St. Gille

A really Beautiful bridge on our drive back to Paris.
Michelle and I collecting shells.
Ok, so there are a couple of these "swimming pools" at the beach in St. Gille. It appears that they have created a 2-3 foot or so wall so that when the tide comes in it fills it and keeps it full for kids and others to swim in. We actually saw someone swimming in it.
The tide goes in and out so high that this boat was way up on the wall in the picture below, like close enough where I could take about 6 steps down the ladder and jump in, then about 2 hours later it was down in the mud.
